The Supersonic Cup Summer Major Rockets to Victory

In an electrifying display of skill, teamwork, and community spirit, The Supersonic Cup Summer Major 2024 took center stage over two action-packed weekends in January, culminating in a thrilling live LAN finals event at The Rechabite on January 14, 2024.

The 3v3 Rocket League tournament, organized by SPACEJUMP, drew in a staggering 41 players across 12 teams, all vying for the coveted title and a share of the impressive $1,000 prize pool.

The journey to glory began with online qualifiers streamed on January 6 and 7, showcasing intense matches and jaw-dropping plays. The competition reached its pinnacle at The Rechabite, where four outstanding teams—RREBIF, Allardice Gaming, Shadow Wizard Money Gang, and Godalions—fought tooth and nail for supremacy. Ultimately, it was RREBIF who emerged as the first-place champions, securing both bragging rights and a significant portion of the prize money.

The LAN finals event at The Rechabite was not just a celebration of gaming excellence; it was a vibrant gathering of the gaming community. Attendees were treated to a myriad of experiences, with nine market stalls featuring talented artists like Austen Mengler, Bree Halo Arts & Crafts, Daniel Ang Art, Hnugie Art, and OpenJBox. Local game developers Echidna Studios and Fist Face Studios showcased their latest projects, providing a glimpse into the future of gaming.

The LAN also featured a chill-out zone and freeplay Rocket League, providing attendees with an immersive gaming experience. Entertainment was in abundance, with DJ Ikigai setting the stage on fire right before the grand finals, creating an atmosphere charged with excitement.

The tournament was expertly cast by a panel of renowned individuals from the gaming community, including RLCS caster Max Formal, Ground Zero woman's team player Queen Morgie, Boom Radio host Jack Wallace, previous Supersonic Cup player Dylan Sandry, and up-and-coming local caster Mitchel Lees.

Event sponsors played a crucial role in elevating the event to new heights. Neami National, with its commitment to mental health awareness, AMD with cutting-edge technology, Allied Gaming with custom gaming PCs, City of Perth supporting local initiatives, and Extron delivering audiovisual perfection, collectively contributed to the success of The Supersonic Cup.
