Accessible Events

SPACEJUMP aims to create events that can be accessed and enjoyed by audiences of all abilities. Please see a SPACEJUMP event page for information of what accessible features are available at a particular event. Some of these could include:

Wheelchair Access

Venues accessible for a person using a wheelchair.

Accessible Parking

Venue with a designated ACROD space.

Audio Description

This service enhances the live event experience for people who are blind or have low vision. An audio describer uses a small transmitter to describe what is happening in an event. People using this service use a personal listening device provided pre-show, enabling them to experience the event from anywhere in the space.

Auslan Interpretation

Auslan is the majority sign language used by the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Australia. In these sessions, an interpreter stands side of stage, live translating dialogue into Auslan.

Relaxed Performance

Open to everyone, but adapted to create a more welcoming environment for anyone that may benefit (this may include people with anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or autism). Relaxed Performances often have slight modifications to light and sound, an open door policy, and a quiet area available.

Tactile Tours

Occurring before the performance, tactile tours allow patrons who are blind or experience low vision to experience the performance via touch.

E.g., patrons may be given access to costumes, props, and stage set in order to capture the atmosphere of the work.

ESL Suitable

Events suitable for the culturally linguistically diverse. Audiences can understand and engage with the event without a comprehensive understanding of the English language.

High Audio Content

An event that relies primarily on audio content (e.g. stand-up comedy or music). Such performances may be more enjoyable for patrons who are blind or have low vision.

High Visual Content

An event that relies primarily on visual content (e.g. circus and dance). Such performances may be more enjoyable for patrons who are deaf or are hard of hearing.

Open Captioning

Subtitles with additional sound descriptives.

Hearing Loop

A sound system accessible to patrons with hearing aids that transmits enhanced audio directly to the patron's hearing aid via a wireless signal. (sometimes called an audio induction loop).

Feedback to SPACEJUMP

SPACEJUMP is at all times dedicated to improving the experience of all patrons to SPACEJUMP events and we appreciate feedback that helps us in these aims.
