The Supersonic Cup, a highly anticipated Rocket League event, was recently held at The Rechabite in Northbridge on Sunday, June 18 2023. Presented by SPACEJUMP, the event brought together over 200 passionate gamers and fans to celebrate esports as a legitimate sporting and entertainment experience in The City of Perth!
With a nail-biting grand final, lively entertainment, and bustling market stalls, the Supersonic Cup left an enduring mark on the Western Australian esports scene. An Epic Finals Series
16 Rocket League teams from across Western Australia fought their way through an intense series of online qualifiers on Sunday, June 4 2023. Ultimately only 4 teams could prevail and make their way to the Main Event Finals which were held at The Rechabite. The 4 teams that qualified included: Bloomin Good Gaming, Voddy Red?, Virgin Frequent Flyers, and Team Gaming Esports Club.
On game day, Rocket League and esports fans arrived to see some of Perth’s best Rocket League players in action. The atmosphere inside The Rechabite was electric as spectators cheered on their favourite teams and the biggest plays of the day.
In an intense Grand Final, Voddy Red? took on an undefeated Team Gaming Esports Club. After leading early in the Best of 7 series, Voddy Red? couldn’t hold on against a resilient and determined Team Gaming Esports Club who emerged victorious and secured the inaugural Supersonic Cup title. The players on this team included Naksh “PocketZ” Patel, Shaun “Slyjewels” Davison, and Dylan “Binary” Sandry. The team's triumph showcased their dedication and cemented their place as a force to be reckoned with in the WA Rocket League esports scene.

Classic Mistake crafted some unique electronic dance tunes using an old GameBoy to which the crowd got hyped and grooved to the electric beats. Attendees could explore and purchase a wide range of gaming merchandise, artworks, test out indie games in development, and play some retro games too!
